Minimum standards: applicants must be 21 years of age or older; have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; possess a valid driver’s license; have no serious motor vehicle record and no disqualifying criminal history. Must have completed the alert test and the first two phases of pre-service training through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and otherwise must be able to comply with the pre-entrance standards for the Maine Criminal Justice Academy basic school. Candidate(s) must also be able to complete a criminal background check to departmental standards, polygraph examination and physical agility test.
