Job Description
- Patrol designated areas within the towns to maintain public safety, enforce laws and ordinances, and prevent criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents requiring police intervention.
- Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, crimes, and ordinance violations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports for court proceedings.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and departments to exchange information, coordinate activities, and provide mutual assistance during emergencies.
- Engage in community-oriented policing activities such as drug resistance education, traffic safety programs, and outreach to citizens and businesses.
- Assist individuals in need, including providing aid at accident scenes, offering directions, and addressing concerns or complaints from the public.
- Maintain departmental equipment, vehicles, and facilities in a clean and functional condition.
- Participate in various committees and task forces as assigned by superiors.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all interactions with the public and colleagues.
- Continuously update knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and departmental policies through training and professional development opportunities.

Experience
Must be at least 21 years old at the time of employment. Possess, or able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State driver's license without record of suspension or revocation. Meet physical fitness requirements as established by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. High school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to candidates with additional education or training in law enforcement or related fields. Ability to operate modern computers and software programs used within the department. Must meet good moral character standards and be a U.S. citizen.
