Job Description

The Town of Bar Harbor is accepting applications for one (1) Full Time Patrol Officer to fill an existing vacancy within the department. This full service community offers an excellent wage and benefit package which includes paid vacations and holidays, family health insurance, retirement and uniforms. The starting salary for this position after successful completion of the probationary period is anticipated to be $64,397 annually. Minimum requirements include: Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, meet physical fitness requirements as established by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to operate modern computers and software programs used within the department and must meet good moral character standards and be a U.S. citizen. Final candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation as well as polygraph, psychological and medical examinations

Staff

The Bar Harbor Police Department is made up of 14 full-time officers. There is one chief, two lieutenants, one sergeant, and ten patrol officers. These officers work year round, covering all of Bar Harbor's jurisdiction and enforcing state laws and town ordinances. The police will also provide events (such as taking back unwanted prescription drugs) in order to create a cleaner Bar Harbor. There is a collection point in the lobby available 24/7 for unwanted prescription drug drop off.

Experience
